So I've only read the first chapter of 'The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment' by Jeremiah Burroughs and I am very eager to read the rest. I've been trying to read contemporary authors along with my old puritans, but.... I love the old stuff. They make me think deeper, higher, more beautiful thoughts. They challenge me. (And expand my limited vocabulary... I must have a dictionary handy while reading them)
Heres a beautiful little excerpt from 'The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment' :
Though I have not outward comforts and worldly conveniences to supply my necessities, yet I have a sufficient portion between Christ and my soul abundantly to satisfy me in every condition.
Strive for this with me, Saints.
