Cut down to size... for mercy's sake

"Can a man be profitable to God,

though he who is wise may be profitable to himself?

Is it any pleasure to the Almighty that you are righteous?

Or is it gain to Him that you make your ways blameless?"-Job 22:2-3

If left to ourselves, even in our "best" state, our hearts follow only our eyes. We choose our own delusions and forsake our mercies for lying vanities....

"Lord,make me to know my end,

and what is the measure of my days,

that I may know how frail I am.

Indeed, you have made my days as handbreadths,

and my age is nothing before You;

Certainly man at his best state is but vapor." -Psalm 39:4-5
